Darla S. Blazey biography

Effective, January 1, 2012, Mayor-elect Terry Seitz has announced the appointment of Darla S. Blazey as Director of Community Development and Planning for the City of Jasper. Blazey will take over a department to be redefined by ordinance as responsible for long-range planning, current planning, economic development, historic preservation, marketing and all building and zoning matters including permits, codes and regulations and enforcement.

Blazey, 42, served as the City of Jasper Arts Department Director from 2000-2006 and was a member of the city’s Comprehensive Plan steering committee. She has extensive work in community development as a tourism and cultural leader for the past 16 years. Most recently she served as a regional account executive for the Indiana Office of Tourism Development and the Indiana State Festivals Association.

Additionally, her other experiences include grant writing, strategic planning, public relations, marketing and events and project management. Blazey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Darla and her husband Scott Blazey reside in Jasper with their daughter Isabelle.
