Daniel W. Schaefer, 67, St. Meinrad

Daniel W. Schaefer, 67, of St. Meinrad, passed away August 17, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Daniel was born on February 7, 1959, in Huntingburg to Alvin and Mary Ann (Wright) Schaefer.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Friedel on May 10, 1986, in Perry County.

Daniel was a retired laborer for Union 561. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking, and he was known as a jack of all trades. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pamela; five children, Cody (Tara) Schaefer of St. Meinrad, Brandon Schaefer of St. Meinrad, Christina Schaefer of Newtonville, Nicky (Josh) Gogel of New Boston, and Danielle (Bruce) Collins of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren, Chloe Collins, Olivia Collins, Harper Collins, Gavin Collins, Talon Collins, Vanesa Barger, Hunter Lindsey, Jayden Taylor, Emma Schaefer, Dean Schaefer; siblings, Scott (Linda) Schaefer of St. Meinrad, Kenny (Rhonda) Schaefer of Bristow, Becky Waninger of Bristow and Phyllis (Doug) Satterfield of St. Meinrad.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Randy Schaefer and Alvin Schaefer Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. EST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, with burial to follow in St. Meinrad Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. EST until the time of the funeral service.
