Daniel L. Merkel, 58
Daniel L. Merkel, age 58, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 3:24 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence.
He was born April 3, 1954 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Sylvester M. Merkel, Sr. and Mary (Humbert) Merkel. He married Louise D. Kempf on November 20, 1976 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.
Dan was a retired UPS (United Parcel Service) driver. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the Y.M.I. Club and the Optimist Club; was a past Teen Outback board member; a Huntingburg High School Class of ’72 graduate; and was active in the Huntingburg Little League where he served as field manager and coach for 24 years. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one infant son, Kevin Daniel Merkel.

Funeral services for Daniel L. Merkel will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg).
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday. A parish vigil prayer service and a Y.M.I. memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, at the funeral home.
