Cyril J. Wigand, 88
Cyril J. Wigand, age 88, of Ireland, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Sunday (October 14, 2012) at the Timbers of Jasper.
Cyril was born in Ireland, Indiana on February 18, 1924 to Anthony Sr. and Clara (Dick) Wigand. He married Betty L. Zehr on July 2, 1946 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. They have been married for 66 years.
Cyril was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He operated the Wigand Grocery Store in Ireland for many years. He worked as an insurance agent for American Family Insurance Company, and retired from there after 26 years in business.
Cyril was also a Sub-Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for nine years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and the V.F.W. Post #673.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, weaving, and participating in summer activities with his family.

Preceding Cyril in death are two sisters, Mary Lou Hunter and Dorothy Linette, and two brothers, Bernard and James Wigand.
Funeral services Cyril J. Wigand will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (October 17, 2012) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Dubois County Alzheimer’s Association.
