Cub Scouts welcoming new members at special Joining Nights

Cub Scout volunteers hosting sign-up nights for Dubois County youth in grades K-5

The annual back-to-school Cub Scout sign-up season is underway, and local Scouting America volunteers are hosting “joining nights” throughout our communities in the coming weeks.

Both boys and girls in grades K-5 can join Cub Scout Packs and participate in fun activities focused on skills and growth, character development, outdoor adventures, and overcoming challenges, all in a family-centered atmosphere.

As of this release, there are three joining nights scheduled in Dubois County in the coming week:

“Scouting encourages personal growth that can help kids thrive in sports, school, and life,” said Grant Reigelman, Scout Executive, Buffalo Trace Council. “The Scouting America motto is ‘Be Prepared’, and Cub Scout activities and adventures create opportunities to help children become the best versions of themselves.”

“As parents, we’re not only raising children, but we’re also raising future adults who will be leaders in our community and beyond,” said Becca Scott, board member, Buffalo Trace Council, and Scouting America parent. “I appreciate that Scouting encourages bravery, life skills, service, kindness, resilience, and a sense of duty to those around us.”

Scouting America research of current and former Scouts has shown that Scouting programs help youth become more honest, improve their ability to work with others, and become strong team players; nearly four out of five Scouts also report that Scouting has helped them better understand and sympathize with those less fortunate.

Costs for participating in Cub Scouts are very similar to other youth activities, and financial assistance is available

Online registration, as well as more information about Cub Scouts and other Scouting America programs, is available anytime at beascout.org.
