Crouse running for Dubois County Circuit Court judge

Former Dubois County Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Crouse has announced that he is seeking election as judge of the Dubois Circuit Court. 

In announcing his candidacy, the Republican candidate said that it was an honor and a privilege to serve as the prosecutor and that he wants to dedicate himself to serving the citizens of Dubois County as Circuit Court Judge.

“Having been an attorney for nearly 30 years, I have handled the types of cases that are heard in Circuit Court,” Crouse said. “Also, similar to a judge, a prosecuting attorney makes judgments involving the law on a daily basis, such as evaluating cases, determining whether to file criminal charges and if so what charges to file, assessing the strength of cases and choosing how to resolve them, deciding appropriate sentences to offer, etc. The experience gained as prosecutor is one of the reasons that many prosecutors become judges.”

Crouse grew up helping out in his grandparents’ store in Haysville and on the family farm. He was salutatorian of the Northeast Dubois High School class of 1980. Crouse received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.

Following law school, Crouse returned to Dubois County and opened his law practice. Crouse practiced law in Jasper until being elected prosecuting attorney in 2010, and since stepping down from that position.  In addition to being an attorney, Crouse formed Crouse Disposal Services in 1998 and owned and operated it until the business was sold.

Crouse is married to the former Michelle Popp, and is the son of Ralph “Bud” and Gladys Crouse.  He is a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.  Crouse is a member and past president of the Dubois County Bar Association.

“I appreciate the people of Dubois County putting their trust in me when they elected me prosecuting attorney, and I would like to bring that same commitment and integrity to the office of Circuit Court Judge,” he said. “If elected I will treat everyone fairly and render evenhanded, common-sense decisions.  I believe that my broad range of experience, as an attorney, in business, and in life, would serve me well if I am elected, and I would be honored to serve as Circuit Court Judge.”
