Construction moves forward on Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization

The Downtown Revitalization Phase II Project in Jasper is making headway, with some areas reopening to traffic while others enter new construction stages.

South Main Street between 3rd and 5th Streets is mostly complete and open to traffic. Paving and striping are done, with landscaping set for next week, weather permitting. The roadway is expected to be fully open by week’s end.

Work continues on North Main Street between 7th and 9th Streets. Both blocks will likely remain closed for most of the ongoing repairs.

This week, contractors are wrapping up stormwater work at the 8th Street intersection and starting to install new infrastructure pipes up to 9th Street.

Next week, the focus shifts to curb work at the 8th Street intersection, along with pouring sidewalks and ramps on both sides of 7th Street.

The project team is working with German American Bank to minimize disruption to their drive-through service. More details on this will be available soon.

Importantly, all building entrances will remain accessible to pedestrians throughout the construction. German American Bank’s drive-thru is still operational for now.

Weather and material availability may impact the project timeline. The team holds bi-weekly meetings with contractor representatives to track progress, providing updates to the public on the same schedule or as new information comes in.
