Conference on Integrative Medicine to be held at Jasper Inn and Convention Center

Jasper, Indiana – A full day of learning, sharing and understanding how to improve the well-being of patients, their families and community through integrative medicine is coming to the Jasper Inn and Convention Center, 951 Wernsing Road, on Thursday, November 10, 2011. This conference is geared toward nurses, health care administrators, pharmacists, dieticians/nutritionists, social workers, and clergy/chaplains interested in learning more about integrative medicine, a healing-oriented medicine designed to treat the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), not just the disease or illness.

Keynote speakers for the conference include Larry Dean Cripe, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine and interim Chief, Division of Hematology and Oncology of the Indiana University School of Medicine; Ronald L. Mead, System Vice President/Chief Mission Integration Officer for St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis; and Sister Maria Tasto, Spiritual Director and Program Director for the Spirituality Ministry of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, IN. Discussions will include topics on music therapy, artistic expression, integrative assessment…more than a disease, development of support group and spirituality programs, and celebration of the here and now.

This conference is sponsored by Vincennes University Jasper Campus and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in cooperation with Indiana University Health, Ascension Health, and Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand. Contact hours of 6.0 CEUs, Category I, will be available for LSWs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and LMHCs. The fee for the conference is $119 per person and includes materials and lunch. Check-in for the conference will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the closing session scheduled to end at 4:00 p.m.
