Community in Bloom returns to Ferdinand

A free spring celebration spanning four venues with family activities, local vendors, live music, and more
Ferdinand is set to burst into color on Saturday, May 2nd as the community gathers for Community in Bloom, a free springtime festival stretching across Main Street and beyond. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents and visitors alike can explore four event hubs filled with crafts, live entertainment, local food vendors, and plenty of giveaways. Nearly all activities are free of charge, with select food and specialty experiences offered at a small cost.
Wollenmann House — 1150 Main Street
The anchor location for the festivities offers something for every age. Kids can get their faces painted or try a paint-a-rock craft all day long, while families won’t want to miss the character meet-and-greet featuring Elsa, Belle, and Spiderman from 11 a.m. to noon. Live music by Michael Wilmes runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Main Street Bistro will be on site with lunch specials throughout the event. A touch-a-police car display and giveaways round out the fun.
RDM Wholesale — 1250 Main Street
Food lovers and sweet tooths will want to head to RDM Wholesale, where Zax Creamery, Twinbee Farmstand, Sister Sweet Treats, and Leben Nutrition will all be set up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Universal Design — 910 Main Street
A mix of shopping and local flavor awaits at Universal Design, hosting Facet’s Greenhouse, Studio 812 Boutique, Bite ‘Em Baits, and Coral Crush throughout the day.
Ferdinand Library — 112 E 16th Street
The library joins the celebration with a butterfly craft for children from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — a perfect stop for families looking for a quieter, creative activity.
Ferdinand Merchants Joining In
Downtown merchants are getting into the spirit as well. True Value is offering a free paint-and-plant flower pot activity. The Monastery Gift Shop will have cookie samples and 10% off baked goods. Ferdinand Flower Shop is hosting a Flower Bar. Traditional Arts Today will feature live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the Troubadours of Divine Bliss, alongside a free prism plant-pick craft. Tin Lizzie’s has a free kid’s craft plus 20% off florals, with a goose painting class available for a fee with preregistration. Old National Bank and German American Bank are giving away raffle baskets and piggy banks, respectively. Shoppers can also pick up seed packet giveaways and enter a drawing for a garden tote at participating merchants.
Community in Bloom is presented by Framing Ferdinand. For more information, contact participating merchants or visit downtown Ferdinand on May 2nd.
