Cletus R.  Sermersheim, 80, Jasper, passed away at 2:31 a.m. CST Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 15, 1936, to Carl J. and Loretta (Schmitt) Sermersheim.   He married Sadie Voelkel on April 25, 1957, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Cletus was a graduate of Dubois High School Class of 1956 and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a route salesman for Dubois County Beverage in Jasper for 42 years. He also worked in maintenance at Meadowood Apartments for eight years. He farmed the family farm with his brother for 34 years. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Sermersheim; one daughter, Linda Gerber (Joseph) of Jasper; two sons, Russell Sermersheim (Stephanie) of Edinburgh, Ind. and Kevin M. Sermersheim and companion Tracy Haase of Haysville; four grandchildren, Nicholas Gerber, Amanda Thornton and Samantha Gerber and Alexandria Sermersheim; two great-grandchildren, Eliza and Ivan Gerber; one sister, Ruth Beckman of Jasper; brother-in-law, Jim Vaughn of Jasper.

Preceding him in death are four sisters, Bernetta Rasche, Luella Sermersheim, Rita Vaughn, Alma Foster and also, one brother, Marvin Sermersheim.

Funeral services for Cletus Sermersheim will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
