Cletus F. Hopf, 91

Cletus F. Hopf, age 91, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Cletus was born in Jasper, Indiana on September 18, 1922 to Joseph and Margaret (Mehringer) Hopf.

He married Evelyn “Toots” Wilz-Stenftenagel on February 10, 1996. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2009.

Cletus was a retired coal miner. He was an Army Veteran who served in Germany during World War II. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, and the VFW Post #673 in Jasper.

He enjoyed music and dancing, fishing, and volunteering at St. Charles Healthcare Campus in Jasper.

Surviving is one sister-in-law, Dorothy “Sis” Bleemel, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are seven sisters – Bertha Vogler, Helen Hohler, Victoria Sermersheim, Hilda Giesler, Emma Hopf, Veronica Henke, and Lilla Mae Stenftenagel, and five brothers – Silas, Herbert, Roman, Fidelis, and Wilfred Hopf.

Funeral services for Cletus F. Hopf will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct Military Gravesite Rites.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.
