Classic musical “Oliver!” to be presented by Actors Community Theatre; Opens Thursday
Actors Community Theatre will present “Oliver!”, a musical by Lionel Bart, at the Jasper Arts Center stage this Thursday, July 27 through July 30. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m.
The show based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, portrays the trials and tribulations of a young boy as he makes his journey from being in the harsh conditions of a work house in London in the mid-19th century to the colorfully seductive deception of the criminal underworld and finally, to the bright warmth of a real family.
ACT produced this show 40 years ago, and both producers took part in that production as well. Patti O’Brien, who was in the orchestra of the show in 1977, says, “It is special that we are bringing it back now for today’s families to enjoy. It was my first show and am really happy to see the cast and crew recreating the magic again.”
Beth Seidl is reprising her role as producer as she did for ACT’s first production of “Oliver!”
Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased online at ActorsCommunityTheatre.com/tickets or at the door pending availability. For more information, please contact Actors Community Theatre at info@ActorsCommunityTheatre.com.
