Clara Mae Stenftenagel, 76

Clara Mae Stenftenagel, 76, of Jasper, passed away at 5:38 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10,2015, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Clara was born in Jasper on July 17, 1939 to Fred and Georgina (Marks) Stenftenagel.

She was a 1957 graduate of Ireland High School and graduated with a B.S. from St. Benedicts College in Ferdinand. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and their St. Ann’s Society. She worked first as a cosmetologist, then as a teacher for various schools, then for Kimball Stylemasters, and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance company.  She was an avid I.U. Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and she had a great love for the arts and books.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlene Stenftenagel of Jasper and Helen Lowe of Jasper; two brothers, Hubert Stenftenagel and wife Mary of Celestine and Mike Stenftenagel and wife Sue of Celestine; nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were three sisters; Alice Biles, Martha Bemben, and Alicia Stenftenagel, and one brother; Silas “Si” Stenftenagel.

Funeral services for Clara Mae Stenftenagel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
