Clara Mae Schulte, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 4:06 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at the University of Louisville Hospital.

Clara Mae was born in Celestine on April 12, 1931, to Jacob and Rosa (Eckert) Schnell. She married Charles Schulte on October 19, 1954, in St. Joseph’s Church in Jasper.

She worked at Ben Franklin in Jasper for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, St. Ann’s Society, VFW Auxiliary, and a Tri Kappa volunteer. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, and volunteering with her husband at the Timbers and Brookside Nursing Homes in Jasper. She also enjoyed her time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren.   

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Charles Schulte of Jasper; three sons, Doug (Karen) Schulte of Jasper, Jeff (Ann) Schulte of Westfield, Ind., and Mike (Joyce) Schulte of Jasper; seven grandchildren, Erin (Greg) Fuhs, Beth (Kasey) Krouse, Sara (Michael) Boehman, Trey and Noah Schulte, Wayne Schulte, Eric (Erin) Schulte; two step-grandchildren, Eric (Marisa) Durcholz and Kelli (Dan) Huther; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one step-sister Luella Bieker. 

Preceding her in death are two grandchildren, Lauren Schulte and Olivia Schulte; two brothers, Ralph and Urban Schnell; one sister, Jenny Otto; one half-brother, Gilbert Schnell; and two step-brothers, Louie and Leroy Sermersheim; four stepsisters, Lillion Rucker, Lee Etta Brames, Lenore Anderson, and Mary Prechtel. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clara Mae Schulte will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

 A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Friday February 14, 2020.
