City of Jasper still seeking input for comprehensive plan process

The City of Jasper is developing a new Comprehensive Plan to guide growth, development, and community well-being over the coming years. The plan will help shape decisions on land use, infrastructure, housing, transportation, parks and recreation, environmental assets, and more, ensuring that Jasper develops in a way that aligns with residents’ values and needs.

What the Plan Is

• The comprehensive plan is a forward-looking planning effort intended to set a vision for Jasper and to establish goals, policies, and action steps for the city’s future.
• It covers topics such as demographics, market conditions, land use, utilities & infrastructure, community facilities, transportation, neighborhoods, economic development, quality of life, environmental assets, and public spaces.
• Once adopted, the plan will serve as a roadmap for prioritizing infrastructure investments, shaping zoning and land-use decisions, budgeting, policymaking, and guiding both public and private investment.

The Process

• The planning process includes multiple phases: gathering data on existing conditions, engaging with the community, defining a vision and goals, drafting strategies, and ultimately adopting an implementation plan.
• The City of Jasper is committed to a high level of public engagement, ensuring community input is part of the planning at every step.

How Residents Can Participate

To ensure the plan reflects what Jasper residents want and need, the City is launching a community survey available in both English and Spanish:
