City of Jasper passes Kimball tax abatement resolution
The Jasper City Council held a special meeting this morning in which a resolution was passed extending tax abatements to Kimball International after it’s Kimball Office division decided to move a $1,077,000.00 manufacturing project called “Xcite” back to Jasper from their Post Falls, Idaho plant. The meeting included a public hearing.
According to Kimball representatives, Dean Vonderheide and plant manager Kathy Sigler, the decision to move the operation will mean about 30 new jobs and the investment into both equipment and plant facilities to make room for the operation here in Jasper.
Mayor Terry Seitz says that these are new jobs, not just a preservation of existing jobs. “The opportunity to bring jobs into Jasper to expand I think it’s very very important and we know that it’s going to give them a leg up in getting that new product to their northeastern customers,” Mayor Seitz said.
