City of Jasper and Tri-County YMCA kickoff $15M Regional Wellness Center capital campaign

The City of Jasper and Tri-County YMCA officials announced the public kickoff of the $15 million Better Together. Capital Campaign to support the construction of the new Regional Wellness Center.
Thanks to early commitments from generous donors, the campaign has firm commitments totaling $12.2 million to date, including 23 gifts of $100,000 or more and five gifts of $1 million and above, according to the YMCA.
“The Regional Wellness Center will significantly increase the number of children, families, adults and seniors throughout our region who will have access to much-needed indoor recreation, wellness and aquatic facilities and programs,” stated Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide. “We could not be more excited and appreciative of the incredible early leadership support the capital campaign has received. It has only reinforced how important this project is to our community and surrounding region.”
The approximately 90,000-square-foot facility will include a large fitness center, four full-court gymnasiums, an indoor aquatic center, an indoor, elevated walking track, four group exercise studios, and five community rooms, including a community kitchen. It will be located on a 10-acre property adjacent to the Parklands and Jasper High School.

“With our leadership support in place, we are now turning our focus to securing support from the entire community to help us reach our $15 million campaign goal,” said Mike Steffe, CEO of the Tri-County YMCA. “Every gift to the campaign, regardless of the size, will now help us get one step closer to the full Regional Wellness Center vision becoming a reality.”
A vital component of the funding roadmap for the estimated $45 million project is raising a minimum of $15 million through the Better Together Capital Campaign. The remainder of the funding to support the construction of this project will be through the City’s issuance of a bond, which will be supported through various funding sources, including, but not limited to:
- City of Jasper Food & Beverage Tax
- Regional Economic Acceleration Development Initiative (READI 2.0) Grant
- Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) Funds
- Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Funds
