City of Huntingburg seeking 250 runners/walkers for special June 5-5-5

The City of Huntingburg invites everyone to join in an evening of fun, fitness, and community at the June 5-5-5 250th 5K Fun Run/Walk and Community Celebration, taking place on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The event will begin with registration for the Fun Run/Walk at 4:30 p.m. at Huntingburg City Hall, with activities on 4th Street and the race officially beginning at 5:00 p.m. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and enjoy an evening filled with entertainment, local engagement, and opportunities to connect with neighbors and local businesses.

As part of the celebration, the city has set a fun community goal of reaching 250 participants for the 5K Fun Run/Walk. Participants are also encouraged to show their patriotic spirit by wearing red, white, and blue as the community comes together to celebrate.

Mayor Elkins shared his excitement for the event and the opportunity it provides to bring the community together.

“This event is a great opportunity to honor and celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary while bringing our community together,” said Mayor Elkins. “The 5-5-5 events provide community members with a chance to get connected, meet people they may not have otherwise spoken to, and be a part of something bigger. We also encourage participants to support our local Huntingburg merchants throughout the evening, as their partnership and support have helped make this event possible.”
