City of Huntingburg awarded $40,000 planning grant

Huntingburg — The state’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs awarded the City of Huntingburg a $40,000 planning grant.

The majority of the funding is through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, along with a $5,000 match from the City.

“We are very pleased to be awarded this grant,” said Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner in a press release. “This is an excellent opportunity to focus on Huntingburg’s strengths, while giving us the chance to look into the future and revitalize our already vibrant City.”

With the funds made possible through the grant, the City will study the area between Jackson and Geiger Streets, from 1st to 6th Streets. A series of “community conversations” will be planned to encourage residents’ participation to assist in formulating goals and objectives of the plan.

The Office of Community and Rural Affairs is under the office of Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.
