Churches reminded to “Chime In” with Let Freedom Ring on July 4

Area churches and others are encouraged to join cathedrals and churches, community organizations and historical structures, national parks and memorials, and people from all states and territories on July 4 at 2:00 p.m. EDT for an Independence Day tradition.

The tradition, featuring a solemn 13-count bell toll, commemorates the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In addition, the America 250 Dubois County committee would like to invite all to then peal (rapid ringing) their bells for 76 seconds – as a rededication to pursuing the spirit of the Declaration.
