Chester R. Bayer, Sr., 68
Chester R. Bayer, Sr., age 68, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Brookside Village in Jasper.
He was born April 22, 1945 in Jasper, Indiana to Jacob and Bertha (Gunselman) Bayer.
He was united in marriage to Brenda K. Grigsby on June 7, 1969 in French Lick.
Chester worked in the maintenance department of the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg for 28 years and also worked in the machine shop at OFS Brands for 15 years.
He was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Huntingburg; enjoyed time spent in the outdoors; and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda K. Bayer, who died July 11, 2010; one infant son, Jonathan Bayer; three brothers – Floyd, Lloyd and Irvin Bayer; and two sisters, Pauline Lane and Ardella Pulley.
He is survived by:

by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Chester R. Bayer, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the New Life Pentecostal Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye. Officiating during the services will be Pastor Howard Geck, Pastor Bret Eckert and Pastor David Harold Bayer.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday; and also at the New Life Pentecostal Church in Huntingburg from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, prior to the funeral.
