Cheryl A. Hurst, 59, Jasper

Cheryl A. Hurst, 59, of Jasper, passed away surrounded by family at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at home.

Cheryl was born in Jasper, Indiana, on July 28, 1967, to Ralph and Dorothy (Knust) Keusch. 

She married Todd Hurst on August 10, 1996, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

She graduated from Jasper High School in 1985. She then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Indiana University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.

She taught high school math at various schools, most recently at Pike Central High School, where she retired after almost 30 years of service.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.

Cheryl enjoyed golfing, going to the casino with her mom and sister, walking with her family and friends and her dog Archie, and spending time with family and friends.  In addition, she was an avid Indiana University sports fan.

Surviving is her husband, Todd Hurst of Jasper; two daughters, Madeline Hurst of Austin, Texas and Jessica (Leth) Sundling of Key West, Fla.; her mother, Dorothy Keusch of Jasper; two sisters, Vicki (Steve) Moore of Jasper and Debbie (Tad) Keusch Allen of Jasper; two brothers, Kevin (Martha) Keusch of Jasper and Terry (Amy) Keusch of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her father, Ralph Keusch.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Cheryl A. Hurst will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
