Charles W . Knies, 91

Charles W . Knies, age 91 of St. Anthony, Indiana passed away at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday (February 14, 2012) in the Greene County General Hospital, Linton, Indiana.
He was born on February 10, 1921 at Celestine, Indiana to Joseph and Mayme (Schroering) Knies. He married MarJorie Nordhoff on June 4, 1946 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana.
Charles Knies was a WWII Army Veteran, drafted for World War II serving in the Panama Canal. He was a self-employed in farming and excavation, later founding the Knies Sawmill & Hardwood Flooring Company.
He is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church – St. Anthony American Legion Post 493- Ferdinand American Legion Post #124, V.F.W. Post # 673 – St. Anthony Conservation Club, Birdseye Conservation and Schnellville Conservation Club.
His hobbies were spending time with his family and playing cards.

Preceding him in death is one son Donald Knies and one granddaughter, Tina Schaefer. four sisters; Catherine Betz, Delphine Ruhe, Loretta Eckert and Florence Kordes and six brothers; Donald, Edwin, Henry, Raymond, Andrew and Oscar Knies.
Funeral services for Charles W. Knies will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (February 17, 2012) in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Bretzville Cemetery. St. Anthony American Legion Post # 124 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church -Monte Casino Shrine in St. Meinrad or a favorite charity.
