Charles R. Knebel, 65, of Jasper, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the home of his sister.

Charles was born in Huntingburg on May 25, 1950 to Linus and Edna (Kunkler) Knebel.

Charles was a Vietnam veteran. He was a self-employed construction worker for many years and owned and operated Knebel’s Lawn Service. Charles was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #673. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by one daughter, Christine Hamilton of Jasper; one grandson; parents,
Linus and Edna Knebel of Jasper; five sisters, Ruth Knebel of Jasper, Shirley Harter and her husband Jeff of Jasper, Bonnie Young and her husband Greg of Jasper, Mary Weyer and her husband Don of Jasper and Pam Hughes and her husband Ralph of Jasper; five brothers,
Edward Knebel and his wife Anna of Jasper, Terry Knebel and his wife Lannette of Jasper, Gerry Knebel and his wife Corma of Jasper, Fred Knebel and his wife Lisa of Jasper and Jeff Knebel and his wife Teresa of Haysville.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Donald Knebel; and one nephew, Kevin Knebel.

Funeral services for Charles R. Knebel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, American Cancer Society Research, and Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
