Charles L. Schuck, 90, Jasper

Charles L. Schuck, 90, of Jasper, passed away at 9:37 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Charlie was born in Jasper, Indiana, on May 15, 1927, to Ralph and Frances (Becher) Schuck. He married his wife of 68 years, Laverne Stroud on June 2, 1949.

Charlie was a 1945 graduate of Jasper High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Charlie managed the Sears Store in Jasper for more than 30 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post #147. He sang in the choirs at Holy Family and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and in the Barbershop Quartet. He was also a Stephen Minister and volunteered at the Jasper Museum.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting, singing, traveling, gardening and sailing.

Surviving are his wife, Laverne Schuck of Jasper; two daughters, Carol (Phil) Apple of Demotte, Ind. and Kathy (Terry) Nuckols of Caneyville, Ky.; two sons, Jerry (Germaine) Schuck of Jasper and Tom (Sandy) Schuck of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Schuck of Belmont, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren

Preceding him in death are one son, John Schuck and two sisters, Mary Tevebaugh and Betty Wineinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles L. Schuck will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rights.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. St. Joseph’s Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
