Charles L. Kieffner, 87, of Jasper, passed away at 12:27 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Charlie was born in Jasper, Indiana, on October 6, 1928 to George and Hilda (Popp) Kieffner. He married Thelma “Dolly” Leonard on September 5, 1953 in Aberdeen Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, Maryland.

He was a member of the Jasper High School Class of 1946. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Siebert’s Clothing Store in Jasper, where he had worked for over 40 years.

He and his wife, Dolly, were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper.

Charlie was a member of the Jasper Moose, American Legion Post #147 in Jasper and a past member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Kieffner of Jasper; two sons, Steven Kieffner and his wife Sara of Edgewood, Ky. and Scott Kieffner and his wife Rebecca of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Brittany and Benten Kieffner and Chelsea and Chasen Kieffner; three great grandchildren, Keaton and Keeley Bagbey and Londyn Smith-Kieffner; one brother, Larry Kieffner and his wife Carol of Huntingburg.

Funeral services for Charles L. Kieffner will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Haysville, Indiana. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rights.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service time at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Memorial Hospital Foundation in Jasper.
