Charles Gogel, 77, Jasper, formerly of Dale, passed away, Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Charles was born October 16, 1938 in Dale to Edward and Ida (Balbach) Gogel. He married Janice Recker on October 7, 1961 in St. Ferdinand Church.
Charles was a retired farmer. Charles was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of numerous American Legions. Charles was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Jasper and the Jasper Moose Lodge 1175. He enjoyed playing cards, taking drives, attending shooting matches and old tractors.
Charles is survived by his wife, Janice Gogel of Jasper; two sons, Eddie L. (Sandra) Gogel, Michael R. (Misty) Gogel all of Dale; three daughters, Brenda A. Gogel of Jasper, Susan J. (Keith) Hopf of Kyana and Jennifer (Clint) Rust of Santa Claus; two brothers, Dennis (Claire) Gogel of St. Henry and Bill (Atilia) Gogel of Florida; four sisters, Mary (Dave) Ferguson of Huntingburg, Maxine (Ron) Kunz of Jasper, Patty (Bob) Trueblood of Hanover and Rita (Dave) Barnett of Cincinnati, Ohio; 12 grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ava Rust and a brother, Harvey Gogel.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. CDT Tuesday in Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 conducting military graveside rites.
Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. CDT and Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. CDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
