Charles “Chuck” L. Beckman, 78
Charles “Chuck” L. Beckman, age 78 of Jasper, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday (August 22, 2012) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN.
He was born September 24, 1933 in Jasper, IN to Leo and Hilda (Brames)Beckman. He married Florence Burger on April 27, 1957 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Chuck worked at Hoosier Desk and Indiana Furniture as a supervisor for many years, and served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a volunteer wood class teacher at Holy Family School, and a Eucharistic minister, and member of the Holy Name Society, and a member of St. Vincent De Paul.
He was a master wood craftsman and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, and wine making.
He was a Boy Scout leader for 20 years, earning several prestigious awards including the Silver Beaver Award and the St. George Award. He was a wonderful example as a Boy Scout leader, inspiring all four of his sons to become Eagle Scouts.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 147, and the Jasper Moose.
He was also active in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Member. He served as Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, and District Deputy. He also served as president of the Columbian Home Association.
He was also a volunteer for the Special Olympics.

Preceding Chuck in death was one sister, Joan Schroeder.
Funeral services for Chuck Beckman will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (August 25, 2012) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. American Legion Post 147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday (August 24, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at church.
