Changes announced to Ferdinand’s curbside recycling program
The Town of Ferdinand announced changes to the curbside recycling program offered through Monster Recycling.
Due to some organizational changes at Monster Recycling, they will be adjusting the items that can be accepted.
Here is a list of items that will or will not be collected- this information is also available on the Town’s website-www.ferdinandindiana.org- as well as the Ferdinand facebook page.
Acceptable Items:
- Cardboard
- Magazines
- Newspaper
- Junk mail
- Steel cans – rinse well before recycling
- Aluminum cans
- #1 and #2 plastic containers and bottles only – rinse well before recycling
Non-acceptable Items:
- Glass
- Styrofoam
- Miscellaneous plastics and toys
- Furniture and wood items
- Oversize items
- Clothing or shoes
- No small electronic items (old computers, small TV’s, cell phones, etc.)
- Batteries
- Paper and plastic grocery bags
- Oil filters
- Empty oil containers
- General household trash
This week (August 3 through 7) and next will serve as transitional weeks. Effective Monday August 17th, these changes become permanent.
The town is asking that customers start following these guidelines now to make the transition as smooth as possible. Beginning on August 17th, items not on the accepted list will not be taken.
