Celestine volunteer firefighter dies responding to fire
The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department posted a message on its Facebook page regarding the death of volunteer firefighter Luke Gehlhausen.
Mr. Gehlhausen, 41, a 17-year veteran of the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, tragically lost his life in the line of duty on the evening of September 7, 205, while responding to an incident.
According to the post, he was responding to the report of a structure fire at about 7:15 p.m. when he was involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash.
“At this time, we ask that you keep Luke’s wife, children, parents, sister and extended family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult situation. We would like to extend our appreciation to those who assisted on scene to include Deaconess Memorial Hospital EMS Service, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and Uebelhor and Sons Wrecker Service,” Celestine Chief Ryan Wineinger wrote.
