Caution: Runners making their way around downtown Jasper Friday!
The Heartland Kids Fun Run & Festival committee asks anyone driving in and around downtown Jasper this Friday evening, September 2nd, to be on the lookout for road closures and course spotters guiding runners and walkers.
Participants of the 1.1 mile Heartland Kids Fun Run will head west along 6th Street from the Dave Buehler Plaza, proceed around the Courthouse Square before retracing their steps back to the Riverwalk.
From approximately 5:50 PM-6:30 PM Friday, the Courthouse Square will be closed to traffic, and through traffic along Mill and Jackson Street will be reduced to make a safe zone for participants, families and volunteers as participants proceed along the race route. Please use caution and have patience in waiting at intersections as participants are coming through. Families and Community members are encouraged to help make this event a success by gathering around the Courthouse square to cheer on the K-8th grade youth runners.
The Heartland Kids Fun Run & Festival will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 2nd at the Dave Buehler Plaza and Jasper Riverwalk, with the Fun Run beginning at 6 p.m. The Festival is free and open to the public. The body, mind and spirit focused festival will feature many booths, games and music. Beginning at 6 p.m., the community can participate in activities such as a wacky hair station, Kids RIPPED session, face painting, photo booth, wellness booths, music, and fun games. Young Life will be selling pizza and drinks and Girls on the Run serving Dubois County will be selling jumbo freeze pops.
Race Registration for the 1.1 mile Kids Fun Run is still open for children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade online by visiting http://www.heartlandhalfmarathon.com or at the Race Registration table on the day of the Race. Registration and Packet-pick up for the Kids Fun Run will be from 5 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. in the paved parking area adjacent to the Dave Buehler Plaza. Race entry is $20. Almost 150 participants have already registered.
Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run serving Dubois County. Girls on the Run, an international non-profit, is a positive youth development program designed for girls in 3rd-5th grade.
