Catherine “Betts” E. Terwiske, 85, Ireland

Catherine “Betts” E. Terwiske, 85, of Ireland, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016, at home.
Betts was born in Ireland, Indiana on February 3, 1930, to Robert and Anna (Weidenbenner) Steinhart. She married Robert Terwiske Sr. on January 10, 1950, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1985.
Betts was a graduate of Ireland High School. Betts was a cook at Jasper High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the St. Ann’s Society, and she volunteered for many organizations. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Matheis and husband Alan of Ireland, Marcia Johanningsmeier of Haubstadt, Regina Scherle and husband Mike of Ireland and Angela Hochgesang and husband Bill of Celestine; 10 sons, Stan Terwiske and wife Julie of Oakland City, Roland Terwiske and wife Kathleen of Huntingburg, Dave Terwiske and wife Cindy of Haysville, Bruce Terwiske and wife Kay of Ireland, Jeremy Terwiske and wife Kathleen of Ireland, Robert Terwiske Jr. of Ireland, Paul Terwiske of Jasper, Joel Terwiske of Velpen, Jason Terwiske and wife Ann of Ireland and George Terwiske and wife Kristy of Ireland; 31 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Lucille Wehr of Ireland; two brothers, Donnie Steinhart and wife Marilyn of Jasper and Ronald Steinhart and wife Evelyn of Dale.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, is one son, John Terwiske, twin great-grandchildren, and one son-in-law, Bill Johanningsmeier.
Funeral services for Catherine “Betts” E. (Steinhart) Terwiske will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
