Cathedral Health Care Center teams up with Jasper Library to create “The Green Shelf”

New collection offers approachable mental health resources for readers of all ages

Cathedral Health Care Center is partnering with the Jasper Public Library to introduce “The Green Shelf,” a specially curated collection of books created in recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week, October 4–10.

The Green Shelf features 12 thoughtfully selected books for adults, teens, and children. Through practical guidance, personal stories, fiction, and age-appropriate conversations, the collection explores anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, emotional regulation, resilience, and healing.

“Not everyone is ready to attend an event or begin a conversation about mental health, but almost anyone can pick up a book,” said April, Director of Admissions and Marketing at Cathedral Health Care Center. “The Green Shelf gives people a quiet, comfortable place to begin, whether they are looking for answers for themselves, a teenager, or a child they love.”

By offering books for different ages and experiences, Cathedral Health Care Center and the Jasper Public Library hope to make conversations about mental health feel more approachable for individuals and families throughout the community.

The books were donated by Cathedral Health Care Center and will be featured together at the Jasper Public Library during October. Community members are invited to browse the collection and check out the titles that speak to them.
