Casting call opens for Oscar Charleston docudrama filming in Huntingburg

Loving Life Productions Casting has opened casting for the Huntingburg shoot, working on behalf of production company Studio Auteur. The Sept. 18–19 shoot dates line up with the reenactment portion of filming Harkness described to the Park Board; the earlier Sept. 17 date covers documentary interviews only and isn’t part of this casting call.

The production is seeking non-union local talent for the following roles:

  • African American baseball players, ages 20s–30s, for team warm-up scenes
  • White baseball players, ages 20s–30s, portraying an opposing pitcher
  • An actor to portray Satchel Paige, African American, ages 20s–30s
  • A featured role as Rube Foster, the Negro League team’s coach, African American, ages 50s–60s
  • A featured role as an umpire, white, ages 40s–60s
  • A featured role as a policeman, white, ages 40s–50s

Pay is $100 a day for a two- to three-day shoot. Out-of-town talent receives $80 a day for gas plus hotel. The project is described as a proof-of-concept shoot for a planned 2027 theatrical release.
