Carolyn June Gaines, 81, Algiers

Carolyn June Gaines, 81, of Algiers, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Amber Manor Care Center. 

She was born October 23, 1940, in Otwell to Harry and Edna Padgett. 

Carolyn graduated from Otwell High School in 1958. On September 5th, 1964, she married Larry Gaines and they built a wonderful life together. While Larry worked away from home in Illinois, she stayed at home in Algiers raising their three children, Angie, Missy, and Steve. After their children left home, she worked at Walmart in Washington. 

Carolyn attended Algiers United Methodist Church.  She was a wonderful cook and homemaker.  She enjoyed working puzzles, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.  

She is survived by her husband, Larry; three children, Angie (Mike) Gray, Missy (Kevin) Cummins, and Steve (Jennifer) Gaines; grandchildren, Tanner and Kaylee Gray, Trevor and Peyton Cummins, Erica (Henry) Steckler and Connor Gaines; great-grandson, Bennett Steckler; step-grandchildren, Nate & Ella McGregor; sisters, Gayle (Robert) Thompson and Patty (Mark) Russell, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend Marilyn Kinder.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Algiers United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Otwell Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
