Carolyn J. Thompson, 65

Carolyn J. Thompson, age 65, of Huntingburg, passed away at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born March 18, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky to John Oliver and Mary Bernice (Woodward) Laney.

She married Carl E. “Sonny” Thompson on January 29, 1971 at the Wesley Chapel Church in Harrison County, Indiana.

Carolyn was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Carolyn enjoyed reading, working in the yard, and time spent with her grandchildren especially attending their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one brother, John Oliver Laney, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Carl E. “Sonny” Thompson of Huntingburg; three sons,Donald Fitzgerald, Jr. of Norton, KS, Jeff Thompson of Ocala, FL, and Scott Thompson of Huntingburg; three brothers, William Laney of Owensboro, KY, Bruce Laney of Livermore, KY, and Andy Laney of Owensboro, KY; by ten grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Carolyn J. Thompson will be held at 2:00 p.m., EDT, on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Huntingburg United Methodist Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Rev. Paula Young Mayberry will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday; and also at church prior to the funeral from 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Sunday. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.nassandson.com
