Caroline I. Merder, 95

Caroline I. Merder, 95, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 3:07 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 30, 1919 to Andrew and Anna (Dick) Wilz. She married Lester Merder on April 25, 1940 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Caroline was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Society.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Merder; daughter, Ruth Flick and her husband, Thomas, of Jasper; sons, Richard L. Merder and wife Gloria, of Jasper and Bob Merder and his wife, Kathy, of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter in-law Jane Merder of Jasper; nine grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is one son, Ronald J. Merder who died on November 9, 1990. Also preceding her are one sister, Mary Ann Blessinger and three brothers, Jerome, John and Hilbert Wilz.

Funeral services for Caroline Merder will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
