Caroline “Carrie” Hoppenjans, 102, of Ferdinand, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

Caroline was born May 12, 1913, in Huntingburg to Hugo and Rose (Boeckman) Schipp. She married Raymond E. Hoppenjans on April 27, 1937, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

He preceded her in death on March 23, 1989.

Caroline was a member of; St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Ann’s Sodality, St. Henry Christian Knights of America and Ferdinand Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, gardening, bingo and spending time with family and friends.

Caroline is survived by one son, David Hoppenjans and wife Sheila of Ferdinand; one daughter, Rita Fuchs and husband Clarence of St. Henry; three grandchildren, Jill Weedman, John Hoppenjans, Jaclyn Hoppenjans and three great-grandchildren.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; one brother, Louis Schipp and a sister Josephine Schipp.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. EDT and Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. EDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
