Caroline B. Mehringer, 88

Caroline B. Mehringer, age 88, of Jasper, passed away at 09:39 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on December 29, 1925 to Henry and Eleanor (Lechner) Stenftenagel. She married Victor J. Mehringer August 29, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Caroline was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, St. Ann’s Society, Daughters of Isabella and the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post # 163 in Jasper.

She enjoyed quilting for St. Mary Church, playing cards and gardening.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Victor J. Mehringer; three sons, Randy Mehringer and wife Betty, of Jasper, Sam Mehringer and wife Lisa, of Loogootee, Christopher Mehringer and partner Jim, of Charlotte, Tenn.; three daughters, Sandy Schmitt and husband Stan, of Jasper, Cindy Mehringer, of Jasper, and Phyllis Werne, of Huntingburg; three brothers, Lucas Stenftenagel, Joe Stenftenagel and wife Martha, and Richard Stenftenagel and wife Helen, all of Jasper; five sisters, Lucille Recker and friend Bernard Hopf, of Ferdinand, Anna Mae Hopf and husband Alfred, Patty Mathies and husband Delbert, Ruth Ann Beck, and Mary Schitter and husband Kenny, all of Jasper; Also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is one brother Felix(Jim) Stenftenagel and one sister Dorothy Oeding.

Funeral services for Caroline Mehringer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Combined rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by the D of I’s and the St. Ann’s Society. V.F.W. Auxiliary will have a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to the Lange-Fuhs Cancer center of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
