Carol L. Arvin, 75, Petersburg

Carol L. Arvin, 75, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Linda White Hospice in Evansville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Otwell on January 31, 1950, to Zelma and John Pauw, Sr.

Carol was a 1968 graduate of Otwell High School and went on to study computer data punch technology in Louisville, Kentucky.

In 1969, she became a mother for the first time, at which point her focus became her children. She cherished being a stay-at-home mom throughout her children’s formative years. During that time, she served in many volunteer capacities at her children’s schools, 4H groups, Vacation Bible Schools, and taking them to the Hadi Shrine Circus.  She also served as an aide in the Special Education class and as a school bus driver.

She loved her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant with home health, and in all things lived by the credo of “giving a hand-up” to any and all. During the time surrounding Covid-19, she crocheted mask extenders for workers in health care, distributing them graciously to prevent the ear discomfort many faced without them.

She loved her grandbabies and great grandbabies, supporting them in and attending many sporting events.

She was a graduate of River City Clown College, giving joy to so many in a plethora of events as Rosie Bottoms.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rose Hyllested, and brother-in-law Richie (Phyllis) Arvin.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ronald Arvin; children, Javona (Steve) Miller, Janene (Jason) Traylor, Robin (Barry) Hurt, Travis and Troy Arvin; siblings Johnny (Darlene) Pauw, Neal (Cindy) Pauw; siblings-in-law Gary (Beth) Arvin, Paul (Judy) Arvin, Brenda Carrico, Karen Mathias, Diane (John) Dillon, Jeff Arvin, and Brian (Joel Nitti) Arvin; grandchildren Derek (Jhelsin) Lunsford, Emma Stokes, Beth Powell, Issac Arvin, Jacob Arvin, Alexia Schraner, Riley Schraner, Ethan Hurt, Conner Hurt, Craig (Catherine) Miller, Katie (Adam) Thompson, Chase (Marie) Miller & Kimber Traylor; great grandchildren Bowen Stokes, Evelyn Lunsford, Simon Miller, Bernadette Miller, Joseph Miller, Theo Miller & Emerson Sommer.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Petersburg Free Methodist Church in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery, officiated by Heath Hyllested.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
