Carma J. Habig, 84, Jasper

Carma J. Habig, 84, of Jasper, passed away at 10:49 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Carma was born in Jasper on September 29, 1933, to the late Cyril and Margaret V. (Seacrest) Wilson. She married her husband of 64 years, John B. Habig on December 18, 1954, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Carma graduated from Jasper High School in 1951 and Stephens College in 1953 and then attended Indiana University. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and the Eastern Star. She was proud to have been a cheerleader for the 1949 Jasper Basketball State champions.

She enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, birdwatching and had a unique gift in finding four-leaf clovers.

She is survived by her husband, John Habig of Jasper; two daughters, Michaela Ann Habig of Loogootee and Teri Elizabeth (Hank) Zunk of Haubstadt; three grandchildren, Andy (Erin) Zunk, Hannah (Detrix) Schafer, and Jon (Lauren) Hudson, and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is her sister Margaret E. Beckman.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
