Carl R. Veatch, 75

Carl R. Veatch, age 75, of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away at 12:10 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence in Birdseye.

He was born December 3, 1938 in Wickliffe, Indiana to Russell and Pearl (Byers) Veatch.

He married Nancy Kay Christie on August 26, 1961 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Carl retired from the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg where he worked in the floor maintenance department. He was a member of the Wickliffe United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Nancy Kay Veatch, who passed away December 26, 2010; and one brother, Billy John Veatch.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob (Kristi) Veatch of Huntingburg; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Carla (Mike) Toby of Holland, Carrol Ann (Duane) Jones of Stendal, and Connie (Scott) Bolton of Birdseye; by 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Carl R. Veatch will be held at 2 p.m., EDT, on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Wickliffe Cemetery in Wickliffe, Indiana. The Reverend Joe Hollen will officiate at the funeral. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
