Car hits front porch in Ferdinand

A rural Ferdinand teen lost control of his car while attempting to avoid a collision and ran into the front porch of a residence on Main Street, Friday.

Ferdinand Police Department responded to the accident at 955 Main Street at about 3:20 p.m. According to police, Gavyn Huff, 17, of E. State Road 62, was turning southbound on Main Street and failed to see an oncoming vehicle. He sped up to avoid the oncoming vehicle and lost control of his 2002 Ford Mustang. It ran into the residence at 955 Main Street.

No injuries were reported.

The Mustang was considered a total loss. Officers estimated the combined damages to the house and the car was between $10,000 and $25,000.
