Buddy Poppy drive running May 2nd to 9th
Dubois County VFW Post 673 will be conducting its annual Buddy Poppy donation drive Saturday, May 2nd, through Saturday, May 9th, 2026.
Since 1922, the Red Buddy Poppy has been an integral part of the VFW community. As VFW’s official Memorial Flower, the Poppy represents the blood shed by ALL American Service Members. The Poppy is a poignant way to remember all brave men and women who have selflessly given their all to preserve the freedoms we all enjoy today.
It is the Red Poppy that has also become an avenue for local VFW Posts throughout our country to raise money to assist their fellow local Veterans. All money raised by our post is used to support our local Veterans in need and enables us to live by our motto, “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living”.
Today, the VFW compensates disabled veterans to assemble poppies. In most cases this money provides extra income for the veterans to pay for the little luxuries that make hospital life more tolerable.
We hope that you are able to show your support of our local Dubois County VFW Post this year, when you see us at these local collection sites: Jasper Walmart, Jasper Post Office, Jasper Holiday Foods, Jasper Rural King and Jasper Hometown IGA.
VFW Post 673 would like to thank them for their generous access to their places of business, and wish to thank all of our donors for their continued support of our nations veterans.
