Buchta to run for re-election

Randy Buchta will seek re-election as an at-large member of the Jasper City Council.

Buchta, 61, has been one of the at-large council members since 2004.

With at least three new members out of seven coming onto the council in 2016, Buchta would like to serve another term to help these members learn their new responsibilities and continue to help move Jasper in the right direction.

There will be many new challenges facing us in the coming years, Buchta said in his announcement.

“I have worked hard to try and keep utility rates and all fees as low as possible and still be able to give the citizens of Jasper all the services they deserve,” he said. “Services such as well-maintained streets, trash pickup, yard waste and leaf collection, snow removal, etc.”

Buchta has been self-employed since 2008 as a partner operating the Raymond James Financial Services office in Jasper. Previously, he worked at Fifth Third Bank for 15 years.

Buchta has lived in Jasper all my life coming from a family of nine; five brothers and three sisters.

Buchta and his wife, Elaine (Schneider), have been married since 1975 and have two children. Missy Sinnott Fleck and her husband Brian. Nick Buchta and his wife Abby. They also have seven grandchildren.

I am very family oriented. I try to provide the best I can for not only my family but for all families in Jasper.

We are members of St. Joseph Church in Jasper. I am a member and past board member of the K of C, member of Moose Lodge 1175, American Legion Post 147 and the Jasper Kiwanis Club.
