Brodie R. Cox, 81, Spurgeon

Brodie R. Cox, 81, of Spurgeon, formerly of Orestes, Ind., passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017, at his home in Spurgeon.

He was born November 6, 1935, in Madison County, Ind., to Roy and Opal (Hickman) Cox. He married Dixie K. Dayton on January 2, 1958, in Phoenix, Ariz.

Brodie retired as a coordinator and expeditor for production control at Textron in Elwood, Ind. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Winslow Masonic Lodge F&AM #260 and the Knights of Pythias Lodge #471.

Brodie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dixie K. Cox, who died November 12, 2016; and one infant son, James Ray Cox.

He is survived by three sons, Tim (former wife, Darin Cox) Cox of Alexandria, Ind., Todd Cox of Castalian Springs, Tenn. and Barry (wife, Kathleen) Cox of Greenwood, Ind.; by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A visitation for Brodie R. Cox will be held at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017.  A masonic vigil service will be conducted by the Winslow Masonic Lodge at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 North Harrison Street, in Alexandria, Indiana, with visitation held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday the day of the service.

Burial will follow at Forrestville Cemetery in Summitville. The Elwood V.F.W. Post #5782 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
