Bridgework to cause lane restrictions east of Loogootee on U.S. 50

Project to continue to December

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane restrictions for the U.S. 50 Bridge spanning Boggs Creek east of Loogootee, beginning on Monday, Aug. 10.

Beginning at 7 a.m., INDOT will close the westbound lane of the  bridge for pavement rehabilitation. Contractors will perform a hydro-demolition that will use highly pressurized water to identify areas in need of attention. Crews will also perform full and partial depth patching before overlaying the existing surface with new asphalt and replacing the existing approaches.

While the westbound lane is closed, the eastbound lane will be open and a temporary signal will direct traffic. Once work is completed on the westbound lane, traffic will switch over while crews work on the east bound lane.  During the restrictions, loads over 11-feet wide will not be allowed.

Barrier wall will be placed to divide the traffic from the construction zone.

The project is scheduled to continue until the beginning of December
