Brian Dean Vaal, 61, St. Meinrad
Brian Dean Vaal, 61, of St. Meinrad, passed away on June 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Brian was born at Perry County Memorial Hospital to Thomas and Carol (Waninger) Vaal on June 18, 1965.
He lived his entire life in St. Meinrad.
Brian was a farmer of animals and crops along with his father and grandfather. Brian enjoyed cards and couldn’t pass up a game of Sheephead and Euchre. He loved to hunt and fish, especially quail hunting with his grandfather.
Brian was involved in many sports. He was a distance/cross-country runner in high school. Throughout his life, he played horseshoes, softball and loved boating.
Brian belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. For years, Brian served the St. Meinrad Fire Department as both a firefighter and first responder.
He is survived by his life partner, Pam (Weedman) Vaal and his stepchildren, Crystal (Jeremy) Parker and Anthony (Audrey) Patmore; 11 step-grandchildren, Colin (Tori), Keenan, Breana, Amity, Anderson, Zaden (Addi), Siera, Bentley, Bralin, Aria and Kannon; four step-great-grandchildren: Xzavier, Jaxstyn, Haiden and Hadlee; siblings, David (Tricia) Vaal of Santa Claus and Brenda (Michael) Smith of Haubstadt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Carol (Waninger); brother, Glenn Vaal; sister-in-law, Denise (Harper) Vaal; mother-in-law, Bonnie Weedman; and step-grandchild, Brayden.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. CDT at St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 3:00 p.m. CDT until 7:00 p.m. CDT and also on Friday morning at St. Meinrad Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. CDT until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Meinrad Fire Department.
Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand has been entrusted with arrangements.
