Brenda Jean Aust, 63, Stendal

Brenda Jean Aust, age 63, of Stendal, passed away at 7:23 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at her residence.

She was born May 28, 1952, in Bedford, Indiana to George and Betty (Carnes) Rominger. She married Allen Aust on June 30, 1974, in French Lick.

She graduated from Springs Valley High School, Oakland City College and Indiana State University where she received her master’s degree in education. Brenda retired from the Winslow Elementary School after 35 years of teaching. She was a member of the Bethel General Baptist Church. She enjoyed creative outlets such as drawing, sewing, photography and singing. Brenda was a hot rod enthusiast who enjoyed Indiana history and mushroom hunting each spring. Most of all, Brenda enjoyed following her grandchildren’s endeavors.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Aust of Stendal; three daughters, Krissy (Brian) Key of Winslow, Winter (Josh) Fiscus of Winslow and Amber (Jayme) Kunz of Stendal; one sister, Beverly (Kern) Hendrix of West Lafayette; one brother, Bill (Brenda) Rominger of West Baden Springs; eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Brenda Jean Aust will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at the Barrett Cemetery in Stendal.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.  Love donations can be made to the Winslow Elementary School in memory of Brenda.
