Newly-elected Representative Mike Braun received his committee appointments in the upcoming legislative season.

House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments Wednesday for the 119th General Assembly.  Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

Rep. Mike Braun (R-Jasper) has been appointed to the Roads and Transportation and Ways and Means Committees.

Braun owns Meyer Distributing, a coast-to-coast auto parts distribution company based in Jasper.

Braun also is part of Conexus Indiana, an initiative to capitalize on emerging opportunities in advanced manufacturing and logistic in Indiana.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Roads and Transportation and Ways and Means committees,” said Rep. Braun. “As a freshman legislator, I am excited for the responsibility of standing on such important committees and look forward to working with the other members to craft an honestly balanced budget while continuing to strengthen our state’s infrastructure.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process.  Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
